Hi
Weronika Sobita PhD
Researcher | Linguist | Academic Teacher
Having majored in Linguistics at the Department of English Studies at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, I pursued a doctoral programme at my Alma Mater and was awarded a cum laude PhD degree for my dissertation entitled Textualisation as an Interpretative Strategy: Intermediality in Contemporary Verbal-Visual Artistic Texts. In my research I have focused on issues at the intersection of language and the various forms of artistic expression, exploring them from a variety of methodological perspectives, including linguistics, semiotics, multimodality and intermediality. As a practicing interpreter and translator, I have also authored papers on translation and terminology and collaborated on the development of a multilingual dictionary of terms related to the restoration and conservation of paintings.
I currently teach interpreting and translation at the Chair of Translation Studies of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow as an associate.
